Dr. Martin Luther King was in Memphis, Tennessee on April 4, 1968 when he was shot and killed as he stood on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel. The leader of the Civil Rights movement was silenced that day but the cause went on and changed our nation forever. Laws were changed and now we have equality for everyone regardless of the color of their skin. Thank you, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I thank you for giving me, my family and my friends the oppurtunity to become whatever we want to become. Thank you for my freedom and equality.
Communism was very close to taking over the world during the cold war period. The fear of communism is called the red scare. Many countries were doomed to be taken over by communism. Many others resisted, such as the united states. We provided a lot of help to other countries to help them resist the communists. Communism was eventually taken down, but if it wasnt, our world would not be as good as it is now.
Malcolm X is one of the greatest civil rights leaders of all time. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska, to Earl Little and Louise Norton. He lived in a dark time of racism and hate. He began to earn money by selling drugs and robbing houses. He was incarcerated not too much later. In prison, he was introduced to Elijah Muhammad and the Nation of Islam. He then converted to Islam and joined the N.O.I. His tenure with them would abrubtly end though, due to his controversial comments about the death of JFK. What he did was, continue his own individual teachings of Islam on his own, and this is what eventually got him killed.
The Little Rock 9 consisted of 9 african american students from little rock, arkansas. They were the first african american students to be integrated into the once segregated Little Rock central high school. At first the 9 were kept from entering school by mobs of whites, and the national guard. But eventually they were let into the school, but had the obstacle of the racist students to overcome.They were hit with rocks, spat on, called names, etc. But they managed to overcome all of this to graduate from Little Rock Central High School and become some of the most famous african americans in United States History.
My name is Savon Jacobs. I have a dream that one day I can better the lives of many people. I have a dream that one day i can follow in the footsteps of Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I have a dream that i can make my family proud of what i will do in the future. I have a dream that my unborn children will want to be just like me.
